Four people are walking through the green grass and on the dirt path leading up to a stone castle at Rolater Park in Cave Spring, Georgia. There are dense forests behind them and the sun shines on the visitors.

Cave Spring

Cave Spring is a small town just 15 miles southwest of Rome and 1.5 hours from Atlanta, with a picturesque square and a mix of adorable shops, delightful restaurants and outdoor adventures. The town’s namesake is a natural limestone cave with a mineral spring that flows into a rock pond. The water has been the surrounding community’s drinking source for decades.

Visitors flock to Cave Spring toting jugs to fill at the spring to take home — it truly is that refreshing! You'll hear squeals during hot summer days as people rush into the bluish-green, spring-water-fed swimming pool in 29-acre shaded Rolater Park.

Pop into the Cave Spring Welcome Center & Museum to learn about the history of the area and get recommendations on what to do on your visit — they’ll probably recommend a stop by A&B Creekside Restaurant, where the Friday reservation-only dinner is the hottest ticket in town for homemade salsa, scratch-made sides and an indulgent dessert menu. Southern Flavor and Linde Marie's Steakhouse are also great options for a meal. Stop into Spring Brew Coffee Company for a latte and hand-scooped ice cream, and be sure to take home some of Martha Jane’s World Famous Fudge, sold at The Peddler.

Be sure to walk around downtown to see historic homes and buildings from the late-1800s. It feels like the community could be in a Hallmark original movie with the happiest of endings. Snap a photo of the still-standing 1810 Vann Cherokee Cabin before perusing for unique gifts at Christa’s Etc.Blooming T’s Boutique and the Cave Spring General Store.

Spend a night at the historic Hearn Inn (located in Rolater Park) or Cedar Creek RV & Outdoor Center before getting up early and setting out on a section of the Pinhoti National Recreation Trail, a 335-mile, point-to-point trail a la the Appalachian Trail.
