Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebrations in Georgia

A two-day holiday on Nov. 1 and 2, Día de los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, celebrates the lives of those who have passed on. Widely observed in Latin America, the holiday and its colorful, festive events are becoming more popular in Georgia. Día de Muertos Festival in Roswell

Presented in partnership with the Consulate General of Mexico, this authentic celebration at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center features Mexican food, crafts, entertainment, and dancing. Visit a traditional altar honoring family and friends who have passed. 3-7 p.m.

Join the fun in Hapeville’s Jess Lucas Park with art exhibitions, live music and performances, and workshops. 5-9 p.m.

Day of the Dead/Haints and Saints Parade in Decatur

This Halloween-themed parade with a Day of the Dead twist is the closing event for a month of Hispanic heritage celebrations in Decatur. Wear costumes and join the evening parade at the Decatur Cemetery at 6 p.m. that ends at the downtown square with a musical jam session and celebration.

Dia de los Muertos Celebration in Dalton

Enjoy live music, food, merchandise vendors, a community altar, and more at this free event at the Creative Arts Guild Spigel Pavilion in Dalton. Adults are invited to wear their best Catrina/Catrin costume, and kids are invited to wear whatever costume they’d like for the costume contests. Bring a lantern or purchase one during the event to join the lantern parade after dark. 6-10 p.m.

Day of the Dead Fest in Lilburn

Join this heartfelt celebration at Plaza Las Americas in Lilburn that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed on. Vote in the altar contest, and enjoy music, a Catrina fashion show, kids activities, food and more.
