Destination Dining: Great Rooftop Restaurants Across Georgia
It’s that time of year — the sun is shining, the days are long and al fresco dining is in full swing. Fortunately, Atlanta has no shortage of amazing rooftop patios — some of our favorites include Tuk Tuk Thai Food Loft, Rowdy Tiger Rooftop, Rose & Rye at Hotel Colee in Buckhead, Shake Shack and, of course, the ever-popular Six Feet Under overlooking Historic Oakland Cemetery. But Atlanta's not the only city in Georgia with sky-high dining destinations. Take a look at these other spots upping the rooftop dining ante.
Sky Bar at Valhalla Resort Hotel in Helen
For an incredible view of the North Georgia mountains, head to the top of the Valhalla Resort Hotel in Helen for a cocktail and bite to eat at Sky Bar. Located on the top floor, this semi-open air restaurant offers brilliant vistas of the Valhalla Golf Club and Blue Ridge Mountains. Enjoy bites like the house-smoked salmon dip and blackened mahi sandwich along with a wine as you wind down from the day.
Cru Wine Bar in Alpharetta
Suburbanites have been flocking to Avalon in Alpharetta since it opened, and there’s no better spot to take it all in than on the rooftop bar at Cru. We recommend the Royal Riesling flight along with a charcuterie board, perfect on a cool summer night. Or, go for Sunday brunch and sip a blood peach Bellini with your brunch beignets.
Pier 16 on Tybee Island
Relax with a drink on the rooftop deck at Pier 16 Seafood Restaurant on Tybee Island, and let the sounds of the nearby surf wash away your cares. Play cornhole or Giant Jenga after dining on Georgia shrimp, steak, burgers and more. Be sure to try one of the signature cocktails, like the fresh mint mojito!
McCray's Tavern in Lawrenceville
Another cool spot overlooking a courthouse square, McCray's Tavern in Lawrenceville is known for its creative burgers, like the "Matador" topped with honey bacon jam, arugula, smoked Gouda, Guinness BBQ & crispy pickled jalapenos. Head up to the rooftop to enjoy one of the restaurant's 40 beers on tap along with an impressive skyline view.
Rocks on the Roof in Savannah
On top of the Bohemian Hotel Savannah Riverfront, you'll find Rocks on the Roof, with a gorgeous view of the river to go along with tapas and an extensive martini menu. On select nights, you can unwind to the sounds of live music from Southern blues to jazz and truly soak in the vibe of Savannah.
Rootstock in Woodstock
Perched high above an iconic corner in downtown Woodstock, the rooftop at Rootstock offers spectacular views of the city along with a carefully curated wine and bourbon menu. Enjoy tapas, charcuterie, desserts, and more accompanied by live jazz or acoustic music. Requests for rooftop seating are taken upon arrival at the restaurant.
