Gray's Reef was the fourth National Marine Sanctuary designated by President Jimmy Carter in 1981

Gray's Reef National Marine Sanctuary is a live-bottom reef located 19 miles east of Sapelo Island. It encompasses 22 square of reef habitat and is one of Georgia's favorite places for fishing, diving and boating. For more information, see http://graysreef.noaa.gov
